The variety is native to southwestern France. The plant is characterized by vigorous growth and an upright shoot position. Leaves are small, round, slightly lobed, with felt-like pubescence on the underside. The flower is hermaphrodite, the bunch is medium or small, very dense, and the berries are round and white.
Baroque is a late-ripening variety that possesses resistance to downy mildew and black rot, but due to the density of the bunches, it is susceptible to grey mold; it is also sensitive to drought and frost. It is used both for varietal wines and in blends, imparting high acidity, alcohol content, and aromas of pear and citrus to the beverages.
The variety was used as a parent form in the breeding of the Liliorila, Odola, Semebat, and Totmure varieties.
