The Bastardo T (Bastardo) variety is a European autochthon, identical to the Trousseau variety. Its origin is linked to the Jura region in France, and genetic studies confirm its kinship with the ancient Savagnin variety.
This grape belongs to wine grape varieties. Its berries are small, densely clustered in bunches. The variety is characterized by high sugar accumulation, which contributes to the production of wines with pronounced color, tannins, and balanced acidity.
A distinction should be made between the classic Bastardo variety and the Bastardo Magarachsky hybrid, obtained by crossing Bastardo with the Saperavi variety. The characteristics of these varieties differ significantly.
