The variety is a wine grape, cultivated primarily in the Basto subregion. The plant has large, blistered, light green leaves with pubescence on the underside. The bunches are massive, compact, weighing up to 2 kg, with short peduncles.
The berries are large, elliptical in shape, yellow-green in color, and have a thick skin and firm flesh. The variety is of medium maturity and is characterized by sensitivity to fungal diseases, which causes instability in yield. It is known under a number of synonyms, including Alvaraça and Espadeiro Branco.
