The Merseguera variety originated from a natural cross between the Hebén and Folha de Figueira varieties. It belongs to the late maturity group. The plant possesses high adaptability to various soil types and resistance to drought, but is susceptible to powdery mildew.

Externally, the variety is characterized by medium-sized bunches with yellowish-green berries. In winemaking, it is used for the production of white wines with a neutral flavor, which have more pronounced acidity in cool regions and higher alcohol content in warm ones. It is frequently used in blends.
