The variety has high vigor and belongs to the mid-season maturity group. Fruiting is characterized by fertility; during ripening, there is a tendency for berry shatter. The grapes have five-lobed leaves, medium to large clusters and berries, and the berries have a broad elliptical shape.
The variety is moderately resistant to powdery mildew but sensitive to winter frosts. Wines made from this variety are distinguished by deep color, full body, and tannins. The flavor and aroma profile includes notes of red fruits, blackberry, cherry, as well as floral, herbaceous, and spicy notes.
