The variety is autochthonous to the Upper Alps region in France. Genetically close to the Clairette variety. Externally characterized by three- or five-lobed leaves and black, slightly elongated berries. The name Plant Droit reflects the upright growth habit of the shoots, and the synonym Pousse de chèvre is due to the shape of the clusters.
The grape is high-yielding and shows resistance to powdery mildew, likely under the influence of local climatic conditions, but is highly susceptible to grey mold. It is used for wine production, most often in blends, as it is rarely vinified separately. The resulting wines are characterized by a light red color, aromatics, and low alcohol content.
