Limniona is an indigenous variety of Greece, historically associated with the Thessaly region. The variety has a bisexual flower type, vigorous shoot growth, and good vine maturation. The plant is characterized by high drought tolerance and adaptation to a hot climate. The duration of the production period is 156–165 days.
The yield of the variety reaches 25–30 t/ha with a fruit-bearing shoot ratio of more than 90%. Bunches are cylindrical-conical, medium density, weighing about 350 g. Berries are medium-sized, round, dark-colored, with thick skin.
The variety is intended exclusively for winemaking. Wines made from it possess an intense color, high acidity, pronounced tannins, and an alcohol content of about 13%. The aromatic profile includes notes of red and dark berries, spices, black tea, and herbal undertones.
