The variety is an adaptation of the Spanish Palomino Fino variety, introduced to the Canary Islands in the 18th century. The vines are distinguished by their ability to adapt to various microclimates, heat, and altitudes of up to 1600 meters above sea level. Old own-rooted plantings aged over 80-100 years are frequently encountered.

Traditional vine training methods include trellising or braiding, which allows for managing the terrain and winds. The variety possesses moderate resistance to diseases and pests. The wines are characterized by minerality, balanced acidity, and an aromatic profile with notes of citrus, green apples, herbs, and fennel.
