The variety is used to create varietal wines, including the passito style, and blends with Lambrusco. The vines have moderate vigor. Leaves are medium-sized, pentagonal in shape, entire or three-lobed. Large clusters have a pyramidal shape with wings.
Berries are medium-sized, round, black-blue in color with thick skin. Due to the functionally female flower type, the variety requires pollinators. The plant is susceptible to downy mildew and powdery mildew. Wines are characterized by deep color, pronounced tannins, acidity, and aromas of dark fruits and spices.
