The variety is the result of a natural crossing of the varieties Magdeleine Noire des Charentes and Prunelard. Vines are characterized by medium vigor and good shoot maturation. Leaves are medium-sized, three- or five-lobed, reticulate-wrinkled. Clusters are small or medium, conical in shape, loose or medium density.
Berries are medium-sized, round, dark blue in color with a thick waxy bloom, skin is of medium thickness, pulp is juicy. The variety is demanding of heat and light, susceptible to severe frosts, late spring frosts, and a number of fungal diseases. Yield is subject to fluctuations due to a tendency for flower abscission.
