The variety is for winemaking and is used in blends, but is also used for creating single-varietal wines. The plant is characterized by vigorous growth and moderate productivity; it prefers hilly terrain with clay-limestone soils.

The leaf of the plant is medium, pentagonal, three-lobed, of a deep green color. The cluster is medium to large, compact, and pyramidal in shape. The berries are medium-sized, oval, blue-black in color with thick skin and a waxy bloom.

The variety demonstrates resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew, but is sensitive to drought and water stress. Wines produced from this variety are distinguished by a deep color and aromas of red fruits, and may possess a high tannin content or a fresh taste.
