The variety originates from the Massa-Carrara province in northern Tuscany and adjacent areas of Liguria. According to genetic studies, it is a product of the natural crossing of the Visparola variety with an unknown parent. The vine has high vigor and dense foliage, requiring regular training.
The ripening period is medium, with the harvest taking place at the end of September. The variety is sensitive to powdery mildew. The berries are distinguished by a high content of anthocyanins and phenolic compounds. The resulting wines possess an intense ruby color, pronounced acidity, tannins, and aromas of wild berries, black currant, plum, and violet.
