Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is a spontaneous color mutation of the Mondeuse noire variety. Historically originating from Savoy, it was long considered extinct until it was recovered in a collection in 1950. Currently, the variety is used in experimental plantings for the preservation of biodiversity.

Bunches and berries are of medium size. The variety is characterized by medium sugar accumulation potential and good acidity; its biological requirements are similar to the parent variety Mondeuse noire. The variety is valued for its contribution to the aromatic profile of blended wines, imparting notes of quince and stone fruits.
