The vine has medium vigor and high bud fertility. The variety is hardy, however, it is susceptible to Botrytis cinerea under conditions of high humidity. The grape is sensitive to terroir conditions.
The flavor and aroma profile of the wines is characterized by floral and fruity notes, moderate acidity, and spicy nuances. Due to the variety's tendency toward low acidity and easy oxidation, special vinification methods, such as pre-fermentation maceration, are used in the production process.
The variety is indigenous, its historical homeland is considered to be the Laconia region, and it is currently actively cultivated on the Cycladic islands. The grape is used both as a single varietal and in blends for the production of wines with protected designation of origin.
