The variety is autochthonous to Catalonia, with cultivation dating back to the 14th century. It is classified as a wine grape variety, forms the basis of the classic blend for the production of Spanish sparkling wine Cava, and is also used to create dry white wines.
The variety belongs to the very late ripening group and prefers growing at altitudes of up to 800 meters. The leaf is medium-sized, slightly lobed. Clusters are small or medium, compact, and cylindrical-conical in shape. Berries are large, round, and green-yellow in color.
The variety is characterized by low resistance to powdery mildew and downy mildew. On fertile soils, it is prone to overcropping, so cultivation on poor, well-drained soils is preferred. The wines are distinguished by good acidity, freshness, and a fruit-floral aroma.
