The variety is of French origin and is known in California by the name Burger. Genetically, it is a hybrid of the Folle Blanche and Ugni Blanc varieties. The vines have moderate vigor, an upright canopy type, and high productivity.
The plant's leaves are pentagonal, having five, seven, or nine lobes with deep lateral sinuses. The berries are round, sometimes slightly elongated in shape. The variety is demanding of climatic conditions: it poorly tolerates cold, under which the berries do not reach maturity, and the thin skin makes them vulnerable to frosts.
The plant possesses relative resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew, but is sensitive to gray mold. In winemaking, the variety is used as a technical one, historically intended for creating simple table wines and for use as blending material.
