The Plantet N variety, also known as Seibel 5455, was obtained by crossing Seibel 867 and Seibel 2524. It has a complex genetic background involving several Vitis species, including Vitis vinifera, Vitis labrusca, Vitis rupestris, and Vitis lincecumii.

The plant has stable yields, but the shoots are characterized by fragility in the wind, which requires the use of trellises. Leaves are round or wedge-shaped, berries are small, round, dark blue or black in color, and clusters are compact. The variety is prone to berry shatter upon reaching full maturity.

The variety is distinguished by good disease resistance and the presence of resistance genes in the genotype, such as Rpv3.2, Ren3, and Ren9. Historically used for wine production, it acts as a parent form for a number of other varieties, in particular the Chambourcin variety.
