Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety has many synonyms, such as Mayorquin, Damaschino, Alicante blanco, Farana, and Kanaän. There are genetic hypotheses regarding the variety's origin from a cross with the Hebén variety or its possible North African origin.

The plant is early-ripening and productive. It forms large clusters with medium-sized berries that acquire a golden hue upon ripening. Currently, the variety is rarely encountered, often in isolated or abandoned plantings.

Wines from this variety are characterized as dry, with a light body and moderately high acidity. The aroma features floral, citrus, herbaceous, and spicy notes, as well as hints of stone fruits.
