Variety description

The variety is autochthonous to the Sierra de Francia region and is a genetic ancestor of the red variety «Rufete»; it was previously known as Verdejo Serrano. The crop is characterized by a late ripening period and low yield.

Morphologically, the variety is distinguished by very thick berry skin. The plant is well adapted to the conditions of old vineyards and possesses resistance to high temperatures.

The variety is used in winemaking for the production of white wines, including varietal wines. The resulting wines possess good structure, medium to above-medium acidity, and a full-bodied, "oily" character, which allows them to be used for aging.
