The variety has a number of synonyms, including Trbljan Bijeli, Kuč, Dobrogoština, Grban, and Šampanjol. The origin of the variety is autochthonous to the territory of Croatia; the parent forms have not been reliably established.

The plant is characterized by susceptibility to major fungal diseases, such as downy mildew, powdery mildew, and gray mold, which requires regular protective measures. The variety is high-yielding.

The grapes are used for the production of white dry wines possessing fresh and light characteristics with fruity and mineral notes. It is also used in the production of dessert wines and sparkling wines.
