Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is of Italian origin and historically widespread in the Modena area. Genetically, it is the result of a natural cross between the Schiava Lombarda variety and an unknown pollinator. The plant has a female flower type and requires pollinator varieties; the ripening period varies from early to medium.

The variety name reflects the appearance of the berries, which acquire a bronze tint upon reaching maturity. During cultivation, susceptibility to berry shatter is noted. The variety is considered one of the rarest in the world with extremely limited planting areas. It has the synonyms Rugginosa, Ruzninteina, and Ruznintena.
