Variety description

The variety is mid-season; berry ripening occurs two weeks after the Chasselas variety. Leaves are rounded, dark green, with three or five lobes. Bunches are medium-sized; berries are black, very small, round-shaped, with a pronounced waxy bloom.

The variety has moderate resistance to Botrytis cinerea, but is sensitive to magnesium deficiency and rachis desiccation, especially when grafted onto SO4 rootstock. In southern regions, it is characterized by low vigor and requires trellising.

The grapes are used exclusively in winemaking. Wines produced from it are characterized by high anthocyanin content, a robust character, red fruit aromas, and potential for long-term aging. There is a certified clone of the variety numbered 745.
