Variety description

The variety is of Italian origin and is the result of crossing the Boggione rosso and Uva delle Vecchie varieties. Currently, it is most widely cultivated on the island of Corsica. The vine has medium vigor, young shoots are densely pubescent, and leaves are three- or five-lobed.

Clusters are large, berries are oval-shaped and red-black in color with thick skin. The variety prefers dry, granitic soils and demonstrates good resistance to grapevine diseases. The purpose of the variety is exclusively for winemaking, used for varietal wines and blends.

Wines from this variety are characterized by aromas of red fruits, berries, herbal and peppery notes, and also frequently possess floral undertones. The beverages are distinguished by moderate tannins, good acidity, medium body, and low color intensity.
