Variety description

The variety belongs to ancient heterogeneous groups and is genetically a parent of the Lagrein and Malvasia Nera di Bolzano varieties. It has rounded, slightly lobed, five-lobed leaves. Bunches are medium to large in size, conical in shape and of medium density; berries are dark purple, rounded or slightly oval with thin skin.

The variety is of mid-season maturity with abundant and regular yield. The plant is characterized by susceptibility to fungal diseases, such as downy mildew and gray mold, and requires training, traditionally of the pergola type. Wines from this variety are distinguished by low tannin content, fresh acidity and moderate alcohol.
