The variety belongs to the Traminer family and is a natural mutation. Bunches and berries are small, the skin is thick, and berry color varies from light pink to copper-brown. The variety is early-ripening; the ripening period occurs approximately one and a half to two weeks after the Chasselas variety.
The variety is sensitive to fungal diseases such as powdery mildew, grey mold, and downy mildew, as well as to frosts. It requires careful maintenance, is well adapted to clay-limestone soils, and yields are low to medium.
Used exclusively in winemaking. Wines possess high acidity, freshness, and aging potential. The variety is rare and limited in plantings; in Alsace, it is known under the name Klevener de Heiligenstein and is also found under the name Savagnin Rose Non Musqué.
