The varieties of the group have a medium ripening period. The vines are of medium vigor, with rounded, slightly dissected five-lobed leaves. Bunches are medium or large, conical in shape, and medium-dense or dense. Berries are medium or large, rounded or slightly oval, dark violet or blue-black in color with a fleshy-juicy pulp.
The group is characterized by easy adaptation to growing conditions, but shows susceptibility to downy mildew, rots, and frost. Wines from these varieties are distinguished by a moderate ruby color, low alcohol content, soft tannins, and pronounced fruit notes of cherry, raspberry, blackberry, plum, as well as aromas of violet and almond.
