The variety is a chimeric mutation of the Pinot family. The name "miller" (Meunier, Müller) is due to the dense white pubescence on the underside of the leaves and shoots. The vine is characterized by medium growth; the clusters are of medium size and high density.

The variety belongs to the late-ripening group. Due to late bud burst, the plant is resistant to spring frosts; however, the compact form of the cluster increases susceptibility to gray mold (Botrytis cinerea). The yield of the variety is medium.

The grapes are intended primarily for winemaking. In blends, it is used for the production of champagne, sparkling, rosé, and red wines, which are distinguished by pronounced fruitiness, fresh acidity, and ruby-red color.
