The variety belongs to the early ripening category, maturing 1.5–2 weeks after the Chasselas variety. It possesses medium vigor, with small clusters and berries. The berry color varies from pinkish to reddish-brown, becoming translucent before ripening.
The plant is sensitive to frost, prone to shatter (coulure), and susceptible to powdery mildew and grey mold. The variety is well-adapted to limestone soils in the absence of a high risk of chlorosis. The wines are characterized by a neutral profile without the intense muscat aromas typical of Gewürztraminer.
