The variety is an interspecific hybrid obtained by crossing Blauburger and breeding number Klosterneuburg 1189-9-77, which includes genes of Vitis berlandieri, Vitis cinerea, Vitis lincecumii, Vitis rupestris, and Vitis vinifera. The grape leaf is five-lobed, round in shape, with a V-shaped profile.

The cluster is medium-sized (14–18 cm), moderately dense, cylindrical in shape with 1–3 wings. The berry is round, small, weighing about 2 grams, and blue-black in color. The variety is sensitive to Phomopsis, esca, and problems associated with the cluster rachis.

Wines from this variety are characterized as red, with a moderate content of tannins and acids, ready for quick consumption. A good level of coloration allowed this variety to be used for blending with less intensely colored wines.
