Uva rara, where the letter N stands for Nero (black berry color), is an autochthonous variety of folk selection. It is a highly vigorous plant for which the Guyot training system is considered optimal.
The variety has a large seven-lobed or five-lobed leaf. The bunches are medium-sized, conical, and loose. The berries are black-blue with bloom, oval to spherical in shape, and ripen in medium to medium-late terms.
The plant is sensitive to powdery mildew and ovary shedding, moderately resistant to downy mildew, and shows resistance to grey mold and certain climatic stresses. Wines from this variety are characterized by floral notes and moderate acidity.
