The Vanília variety, also referred to as Vanília muskotály, is maintained in the genebank collection of the Pécs Research Institute for Viticulture and Oenology. Open sources lack data on parent pairs, breeding authors, and detailed agrotechnical and morphological characteristics of this grape.

The variety name indicates the presence of muscat aromatic characteristics. The variety should be distinguished from the term vanilla, which may be used to describe aromatic notes of wine that emerge during aging, as well as from other varieties with similar names that are unrelated to this Hungarian variety.
