The variety is an interspecific hybrid, with Vitis lincecumii, Vitis rupestris, and Vitis vinifera genes in its genotype. It is known by the synonyms Seyve-Villard 23-657 or 23657. The vine has vigorous growth; leaves are round or kidney-shaped, entire or three-lobed with an open U-shaped petiolar sinus.
Bunches are medium to large in size, cylindrical in shape, often branched and loose. Berries are medium-sized, ellipsoidal or ovoid in shape, with black skin. Ripening occurs approximately two weeks after the Chasselas variety.
The variety is characterized by high fertility and good sugar accumulation potential. Wines have a moderate content of coloring matter. The plant is sensitive to fungal diseases, which necessitates grafting. It allows for short or moderately long pruning.
