Zierfandler is a mid-late variety, the result of crossing Roter Veltliner with a variety from the Traminer family. The bush is of medium vigor, the leaf is large and round. The bunch is cylindrical, very dense, and the berries are small. The variety has medium yield, low winter hardiness, is sensitive to Botrytis cinerea, but tolerates drought well. The wines are distinguished by high acidity and aging potential.
Sylvaner Rot is a natural mutation of the Sylvaner variety. It is a mid-season variety with kidney-shaped, weakly dissected leaves and perfect flowers. The bunches are small or medium and very dense. The berries are dark pink and covered with a waxy bloom. The variety requires covering for the winter, has below-average resistance to fungal diseases, and is prone to Botrytis cinerea.
