The Žumić variety is native to the Kvarner Gulf region, with mentions appearing in records from the mid-19th century. The variety belongs to the white grape group (marked B).
Historically, the variety was used as a component for the production of Bakarska vodica sparkling wine alongside the Belina, Vrbič, and Žlahtina varieties. According to historical data, the variety possesses winter hardiness comparable to the Žlahtina variety.
Currently, the variety is considered rare, and its agronomic characteristics have not been sufficiently studied. Efforts are underway to preserve its genetic diversity in collection vineyards, particularly on the island of Krk.
