Lemon Vigor

Citrus x limon (L.) Osbeck

A complex indicator of lemon vegetative activity, assessed through morphometric parameters of shoot and trunk growth and the dynamics of biomass accumulation.

In the reference 13 varieties crop Lemon, where this is mentioned in the description.

To assess lemon vigor, linear parameters are recorded, including the height of the main stem and the length of annual increments, as well as volumetric characteristics: trunk diameter, degree of branching, and the length of scaffold branches. This crop exhibits rhythmic growth alternating with periods of dormancy, which is taken into account when calculating the relative growth rate.

High growth energy is characteristic of seedlings and trees on vigorous rootstocks, such as Citrus macrophylla. Excessive vegetative activity negatively correlates with early fruit bearing and requires intensive pruning to maintain crown compactness, while to ensure normal crop development, it is important to maintain a balance of at least 10–20 leaves per fruit.
