The rootstock is a hybrid of Malus domestica and Malus robusta. In terms of vigor, it is classified as a semi-dwarf rootstock, occupying an intermediate position between M.7 and MM.106. Trees grafted onto this rootstock demonstrate good precocity and high productivity.
The plant possesses high resistance to fire blight, phytophthora crown rot, and woolly apple aphid, and also shows tolerance to replant disease. The rootstock produces little root suckering and is characterized by good anchorage, although the use of support is recommended in intensive orchards.
When using this rootstock, it is necessary to use only virus-free scion material, as the rootstock is sensitive to viruses that can weaken the graft union. The high yield of grafted varieties may require fruit thinning to maintain their quality.
