The tree is characterized by low vigor and an upright crown shape. The variety is self-incompatible and is characterized by low and irregular productivity. Fruits of medium size have an ovoid, slightly asymmetrical shape and turn violet-black when ripe.
The plant has good resistance to low temperatures but is sensitive to the fungal disease Spilocaea oleagina (peacock spot). The variety is known under many local names, such as Bozzolo, Colombino, Fecciaio, Felciaio, Propolo, Morcaio, Morchiolo, Morcarol, Maschio and Morchiaccio.
