In Spanish agronomic literature, Morcona appears as one of the synonyms for the Picual variety. It is an oil variety characterized by high productivity, vigorous growth, and good winter hardiness. The fruits are of medium to large size, and the oil content ranges from 20% to 27%. The resulting oil is distinguished by high oxidation stability and a significant content of oleic acid and polyphenols.

As a separate Italian variety, Morcona (or Morcone) is mentioned in a number of genetic studies on olive crops. It is also an oil variety intended for oil production. Detailed morphological characteristics and data on the agrotechnical features of this Italian cultivar are not sufficiently represented in open sources.
