Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety originates from the Tuscany region, Italy, primarily from the Livorno and Arezzo districts. Studies using microsatellite markers have revealed the genetic identity of the Morcone genotype with the Leccino variety, although in agronomic sources it is often classified as a separate local variety.

The plant is used primarily for the production of olive oil. The resulting product is characterized by a medium level of fruitiness with herbaceous aromas, notes of green tomato, and a balanced taste with pronounced bitter and pungent shades. The variety is distinguished by high adaptability to growing conditions.
