The variety is native to the central and eastern parts of the island of Sicily, in particular the province of Caltanissetta. It belongs to the category of autochthonous varieties of folk selection.

The fruits of the variety are harvested in October, with early harvesting being considered important for the formation of the characteristic flavor profile. Oil from these olives is distinguished by a delicate taste and an elegant aromatic bouquet with fruity notes.
