The variety originates from the Val di Chiana region in Tuscany. It is currently the subject of research projects aimed at genetic characterization and saving the plant from extinction, conducted by the National Research Council of Italy and the University of Florence.

A known agronomic characteristic of the variety is cold hardiness. Detailed data regarding maturity group, plant morphology, and product quality are currently unavailable in open publications, as the variety is in the stage of primary scientific documentation.
