The variety is traditional to the Somontano region, where it is part of the crops used for the production of oil with a Protected Designation of Origin. It belongs to a genetic cluster characteristic of the northeastern part of Spain.

The variety has a dual-purpose designation, being suitable both for oil production and for consumption in a mature brined state. Olive oil of this variety possesses fruity notes, including shades of green grass, leaf, almond, and tomato, while the fruits themselves are characterized by a low level of bitterness upon ripening.
