The variety is traditional to the Teramo and Pescara provinces. The tree's name is derived from its characteristic trunk, which twists clockwise. The variety is intended exclusively for olive oil production.

Fruits ripen late and simultaneously. The trees are characterized by biennial bearing and difficulty in propagation by cuttings. Harvesting is predominantly manual, as the variety is poorly adapted to mechanization.

The oil has a medium fat content and a high concentration of polyphenols, which ensures antioxidant properties and shelf life. The flavor profile is dominated by an intense fruity aroma with a pronounced bitter-spicy aftertaste.
