The variety Brugse Kriek, also known as Courte Queue de Bruges, has a short stalk. Its fruits are characterized by a sour taste, fleshiness, and a large stone.

The plant is traditionally used in brewing for the production of Kriek-type beer. Within the framework of genetic resource conservation programs for fruit crops, the health of trees of this variety is monitored, in particular, for susceptibility to the fruit tree canker Neonectria ditissima.
