Ujfehertoi furtos
ActivePrunus cerasus L. · Sour cherry
Ujfehertoi Gyumolcstermesztesi Kutato, H
10 August 2026
The tree is characterized by vigorous growth and can reach significant sizes, up to 12 meters. The variety is self-sterile and requires the presence of pollinators. Yields can be irregular, and the fruits are susceptible to Monilinia fruit rot.
The fruits are distinguished by their large size and dark color, becoming almost black when fully ripe. The flesh of the fruits is juicy, and the taste is sweet-and-sour. The variety is considered a dessert cultivar, suitable for fresh consumption and industrial processing.
Due to long-term vegetative propagation, the variety is represented by numerous clones differing in characteristics. Based on it, breeding work was conducted in Germany to develop new forms, including columnar ones.
