The variety is a local Hungarian cultivar selected in the vicinity of the town of Nagykőrös. Since the tree was initially propagated vegetatively, there are a number of clones that differ in ripening times and characteristics. A mature tree is vigorous, forming a high-positioned crown from 4 to 12 meters in height.
The fruits ripen late, in the period from July to August. They have a round or slightly flattened shape, a weight from 3 to 5.6 g, and a diameter of up to 24 mm. The skin is shiny, red-brown or black-brown in color. The dark-red flesh has a firm consistency and a pronounced aroma.
The variety is characterized as self-incompatible and requires the presence of pollinators. The plant exhibits tolerance to Prunus necrotic ringspot virus, but the fruits can be susceptible to Monilinia. The tree adapts to various types of soils, including fairly dry sites.
