ActivePrunus cerasus L. · Sour cherry

10 August 2026
A traditional Hungarian variety, known in literature under the names "Körösi" or "Köröser", often associated or identified with the "Pándy" variety. It is not grown as a commercial variety in modern agronomy, but serves as valuable genetic material for breeding programs.
The trees reach significant size and are characterized by a branch shape uncharacteristic for common sour cherries of that time. The variety is completely self-sterile and requires the presence of pollinator varieties for crop formation. The fruits have good flavor qualities, but the variety itself is inferior to modern forms in terms of yield stability.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
