Ujfehertoi furtos
ActivePrunus cerasus L. · Sour cherry
Ujfehertoi Gyumolcstermesztesi Kutato, H
10 August 2026
The variety is a local clone that emerged as a result of folk selection within the Marasca cherry population. The plant has the ability to self-pollinate, which ensures stable fruit bearing even under unfavorable weather conditions during the flowering period.
The fruits are distinguished by their intense color and specific aroma. Due to its rich composition of phenolic compounds and anthocyanins, this ecotype is mainly used in industrial processing for the production of juices, compotes, jams, rakija, and Maraschino liqueur.
