The variety is a low-growing plant with a height of 150–200 cm. The tree is distinguished by early onset of bearing. The variety is characterized as winter-hardy and partially self-fertile.

The fruits are large, colored dark red-brown, which determines the name of the variety. The taste of the berries is sweet-and-sour, with a pronounced almond shade. Fruit ripeness occurs in early August.
