The variety is a deciduous rhododendron obtained from seedlings of the Exbury (Knap Hill) group. At 20 years of age, the shrub reaches 2 meters in height and 2 meters in width.
Flowering is abundant, occurring in late May — early June. The tubular-funnel-shaped flowers, 60–70 mm in size, are gathered in dense dome-shaped inflorescences. The variety possesses high winter hardiness and is intended for ornamental gardening in open field.
